HISTORY

How to publish a book

In 1965 Collin Booksellers launched a new publishing company, Hill of Content Publishing (HCP). Carving out its niche in non-fiction, HCP led the way with innovative books in the areas of healing, medical advances and self help.

In its early years, the company published books by the well known leader in meditation, Ainsley Meares, and the renowned author Ian Gawler, whose book You Can Conquer Cancer, sold 100,000 copies in Australia alone.

It also published the first book in Australia on in-vitro fertilisation, The Test Tube Baby by Karl Wood; and Global beauty and wellness expert Gregory Landsman’s book, The Balance of Beauty Explodes the Body Myth, outlined a new definition of beauty, on the back of research undertaken with cancer patients.

HCP continued in this vein, championing the careers of many authors with internationally renowned titles that broke new ground.  From Ken Wilbur to Allan Kellehear; from Dr Pam McGrath to Dr Robert McNeilly, it sought to bring education and healing to its readers.

As a result of the dramatic changes to the global publishing landscape, HCP has gone through many transformations, but the back catalogue of books lives on. In recent years HCP has re-emerged under a new management group, as a publishing house that continues the legacy established all those years ago, committed to publishing books that inspire and make a difference.
